What to Bring

For Atlas Trekking you need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region; it can be warm and sunny during the day but the weather in the mountains can quickly change from sunshine to snow and cold winds (autumn through late spring). Please do not leave any rubbish behind you; carry out what you carry in.

Atlas Treks are tailored to match the season and your level of fitness. You have the choice of basing yourself in Berber Guesthouses, from where you can take daily walks, or you can Atlas Mule Trek for 2+ days. On mule treks you usually have the choice of staying in Berber Guesthouse/with families or wild camping in 2-person tents. In addition to regular packing, here is a Check List for Atlas Trekking:

Day 1 :

Day 1 : Arrival Marrakech – Transfer to Imlil

You will be met at Marrakech Airport and transferred straight to Imlil, a village in the High Atlas Mountains at 1740m. The drive will take about 1,5 hour.
Night at Kasbah Imlil or Kasbah du Toubkal.

Day 2 :

Day 2 : Imlil

Today you will have time to relax and enjoy the views in the mountains. Optional walk for about 2-3 hours around the Berber villages.
Night at Kasbah Imlil or Kasbah du Toubkal.

Day 3 :

Day 3 : Imlil – Essaouira

After breakfast, take a scenic hike back down the mountain to meet the van in Imlil and head to the coastal town of Essaouira, arriving mid-afternoon. The rest of the day is free to explore as you wish. Browse the many shops for leather, jewellery, lamps or trinkets. Watch the brightly painted ships bring their catch into the busy harbour or take a stroll along the long, sandy beach. This is the perfect place to enjoy some local seafood and unwind. Night at Heure Bleue Palais.

Day 4 :

Day 4 : Essaouira

Enjoy a free day exploring this coastal port town any way you like.
Night at Heure Bleue Palais.

Day 5 :

Day 5 : Essaouira / Marrakech

Journey to Marrakech. After arriving in the “Red City,” join a city guide for a half day tour of the Marrakech medina. Visit the historical Koutoubia Minaret and gardens, Bahia Palace, the Mellah, and the Saadian Tombs. Later, opt to discover the secrets of this amazing, ancient city. Relax at one of the tea houses around the square, watching the hustle and bustle from a shady spot. End the day like a local with an optional dinner in the famous food stalls of Djemaa el Fna.
Night at Riad Le Clos des Arts or Riad Kheirredine.

Day 6 :

Day 6 : Marrakech

A great place to start your adventure is Djemaa el Fna square, in the heart of the medina. The square changes its offerings throughout the day. Finish up your souvenir shopping or wander the new part of the city for a taste of the modern.
Night at Riad Le Clos des Arts or Riad Kheirredine.

Day 7 :

Day 7 : Marrakech

Depart at any time.

Day 8 :
